Does c’est que require the subjunctive?
C’est que may require the subjunctive, depending on whether it is used affirmatively, negatively, or interrogatively:
Par exemple…
C’est que je ne sais pas conduire.
It’s because I don’t know how to drive.Ce n’est pas que je ne sache pas conduire.
It’s not because I don’t know how to drive.Est-ce que c’est que tu ne saches pas conduire ?
Is it because you don’t know how to drive?
