The conditional perfect is a compound verb form, which means its conjugation has two components:

  verb conjugation
1. auxiliary (avoir or être) conditional
2. main verb past participle

Par exemple…

Avoir verb: donner (to give)

j’aurais donné
tu aurais donné
il aurait donné
elle aurait donné
nous aurions donné
vous auriez donné
ils auraient donné
elles auraient donné

Être verb: sortir (to go out)

je serais sorti(e)
tu serais sorti(e)
il serait sorti
elle serait sortie
nous serions sorti(e)s
vous seriez sorti(e)(s)
ils seraient sortis
elles seraient sorties

Pronominal verb: s’habiller (to get dressed)

je me serais habillé(e)
tu te serais habillé(e)
il se serait habillé
elle se serait habillée
nous nous serions habillé(e)s
vous vous seriez habillé(e)(s)
ils se seraient habillés
elles se seraient habillées

  Past participle agreement

As in all compound conjugations, the past participle in the conditional perfect may need to agree in gender and number with the word it modifies – learn more.
