La Bastille de Grenoble Grenoble’s Bastille

Le fort de la Bastille,* un ancien fort militaire construit sur le mont Rachais du massif de la Chartreuse, est l’un des premiers sites touristiques de l’Isère. Les courageux peuvent y monter en voiture ou même à pied, mais à peu près la moitié des quelque 600 000 visiteurs par an y arrivent par le téléphérique.

Translation

The Bastille fortress,* a former military fort built on Mount Rachais in the Chartreuse Massif, is one of Isère’s biggest tourist attractions. Hardy souls can climb up to it in a car or even on foot, but about half of the 600,000 annual visitors arrive by cable-car.

Peu importe son mode de transport pour aller à la Bastille, en y arrivant, ne ratez pas de prendre quelques moments pour regarder les vues exceptionnelles de Grenoble à partir de la Terrasse des Géologues et du Belvédère Vauban, de part et d’autre de la gare téléphérique. Pour profiter plus longtemps de ce panorama, on peut manger soit au Restaurant O2, soit au Restaurant Chez le Pèr’Gras.

No matter what method of transportion you use to go to Bastille, once you arrive, don’t miss out on taking a few moments to look over the exceptional views of Grenoble from the geologists’ terrace and the Vauban viewpoint, on either side of the cable-car station. To enjoy this panorama for a longer time, you can eat at either Restaurant O2 or Restaurant Chez le Pèr’Gras.
