Limousin et Limoges Limousin and Limoges
Translation

A very beautiful part of France that you might not know is Limousin. When we lived in Hyères, my husband and I visited this region with our friend and stayed in her cousin’s former farmhouse, which was an interesting experience in itself.

Translation

Limousin is known for its Limousines: a race of cattle, not luxury cars. 🙂 As you can see in the photo, these animals raised for meat are very big, with a light reddish-brown coat.* Unlike me, they are used to the cold. I’m addicted to the sun and was accustomed to the considerably warmer climate of the South of France, so was cold nearly all the time. Though I really liked the region, I was eager to get home, but not before visiting the French capital of porcelain.

Translation

Famous for its china, Limoges is also a beautiful city with interesting architecture. We started our visit with an hour on the Little Tourist Train. We saw all kinds of pretty roads and lanes as well as the cathedral and covered market. But I especially liked the adorable little girl who, upon seeing our train, started jumping for joy and waving at us.

Translation

The Limoges BĂ©nĂ©dictins train station is magnificent, at least on the outside. Redone in 1998 after a big fire, it’s built of reinforced concrete and limestone, with a copper dome and a big garden across the street. The inside has been modernized with offices and stalls in the middle of the hall which partly obscure the ceiling and stained glass windows.

Translation

* Even though robe is feminine, roux clair does not change to "rousse claire" to agree with it. Modified color adjectives (clair [light] is modifying roux [reddish-brown]) are invariable.
