In the present tense, the irregular –re verbs dire (to say, tell), écrire (to write), and lire (to read) are conjugated mostly* according to the same pattern:

1. For singular conjugations (je, tu, il/elle/on), remove –re to find the stem and add the endings.

2. For plural conjugations (nous, vous, ils/elles), the stems are dis, écriv, and lis, respectively.

Endings Dire Écrire Lire
-s je dis j’écris je lis
-s tu dis tu écris tu lis
-t il dit il écrit il lit
-ons nous disons nous écrivons nous lisons
-ez vous dites* vous écrivez vous lisez
-ent ils disent ils écrivent ils lisent

 * Except for the vous form of dire.

Derivatives (décrire, relire, etc) follow the same pattern.
