Expressions de fréquence

In addition to adverbs of frequency, which are individual words, French has a number of multi-word expressions. These expressions of frequency, aka adverbial phrases of frequency, allow you to talk about how often something happens with much greater precision.

une fois   once
encore une fois   one more time
deux fois   twice
trois fois, quatre fois …   three times, four times …
une fois par jour / semaine / mois / an   once a day / week / month / year
deux fois par jour / semaine / mois / an   twice a day / week / month / year
3, 4 … fois par jour / semaine / mois / an   3, 4 … times a day / week / month / year
tous les jours   every day
toutes les semaines   every week
tous les lundi, mardi …*   every Monday, Tuesday …
tous les mois   every month
tous les janvier, février …*   every January, February …
tous les ans   every year
tous les deux jours / mois / ans   every other day / month / year
tous les 3, 4 … jours / mois / ans   every 3, 4 … days / months / years
toutes les deux semaines   every other week
toutes les 3, 4 … semaines   every 3, 4 … weeks
toutes les 10, 15 … minutes   every 10, 15 … minutes
toutes les heures   every hour
toutes les heures à l’heure juste   every hour on the hour
toutes les heures à la demi-heure   every hour on the half hour
toutes les deux heures   every two hours
toutes les 3, 4 … heures   every 3, 4 … hours
à l’occasion   occasionally
de temps à autre   once in a while
de temps en temps   once in a while
sans cesse   ceaselessly

 * Note that French days of the week and months do not take an "s" the way they do in English. The fact that they are plural is make clear with the plural tous/toutes and the definite article.
