Meaning to feel peachy, great, to be full of energy, in good spirits

Usage notes: When they’re feeling peachy, whether physically or mentally, the French use the informal expression avoir la pêche.

Par exemple…

Après sa baignade matinale, il a toujours la pêche.   After his morning swim, he’s always full of energy.
J’ai décidé d’aller en Espagne cet été et j’ai la pêche !   I’ve decided to go to Spain this summer and I feel great! (I’m excited)

Variations

  • avoir une pêche d’enfer – to be in great spirits, feel great – literally, “to have a peach from hell”
  • Ça donne la pêche – That gets you going

The informal adjective pêchu also means "full of energy" or "lively."

Tu es pêchu aujourd’hui.   You’re full of energy this morning.
C’est un groupe pêchu.   It’s a lively group.
