Faire le point après une semaine
I quit my 15-year writing job a week ago in favor of starting my own French site, and so far I think things are going pretty well. I’ve been working on an assortment of content so that there’s a little something for everyone – reading comprehension, expressions, verb conjugations – and there’s a whole lot more where that came from. Be sure to subscribe or follow in order to find out about new features.
There were a few technical glitches which have been figured out, and a couple that haven’t:
The Subjunctivator on my old site no longer works, and obviously I can’t get to it in order to fix it. I do plan to make a new one, but that involves rewriting those 240 pages of subjunctive examples, which at this point is a low priority. I need to cover basic French grammar and a lot of other foundational material before I can get into the more advanced stuff.
Update: The Subjunctivisor!
The hidden English translation in the reading comprehension exercises apparently does not work in Android. That feature is made possible by a spoilers plugin, so that’s something I can’t fix myself. If you’re having trouble with the English translation either never or always showing, please report it to the plugin author.(Update: no longer an issue because I’m using a different plugin)
I’ve received a lot of compliments about the site design, merci ! And thank you for all of your encouragement and support, it really means the world to me. Bonne continuation !
I wish you all the best, Laura! The up-to-date technology of Lawless French puts About com to shame, so I welcome the move.
Laura…
Congratulations and thanks…your new site is great!
I love your new website. I have been following you for several years, and I am happy to see you have your own website now. Congratulations! I hope the new site will have as much advanced French material as the previous site did.
Merci ! It will, eventually, but I have to cover the basics first, and that’s going to take a while. Please bear with me. 🙂
I think the hidden English translation is an excellent idea.
Fantastique!! Liked the other site but this is a real good one.
Some day. 🙂
J’aime Lawless French
Your new site is superb, and it’s great to profit from your excellent work !
Je pense que ton nouveau site est très chic et bénéficial. J’apprends cette langue à l’école et je trouve ça intéressante et belle (bien sûr). Ce site m’aidera à apprendre français. Grâce à vous !
(J’espère que mon français est bon — corrigez-moi s’il n’a pas raison, s’il vous plaît)
I love your new site. The listening exercises are helpful to me. Understanding the spoken french is my biggest challenge with french so far. The reading comprehension is great too. I look forward to more lessons here!
I love your new site. I have been a fan of yours for sometime but your new site is much better. I am retired and look forward to receiving your regular emails.
I think the name ‘Lawless French’ is a great irony relating to French grammar. Every rule has exceptions and even the exceptions have exceptions!
