If you don’t feel well, in France you can often get away with talking to a pharmacist rather than a doctor. Here’s some useful vocab for what you might need at the pharmacy.

pharmacist   un pharmacien
une pharmacienne
doctor   un médecin
~ insurance card   la carte vitale
     
medicine   la médicine
antibiotics   les antibiotiques
aspirin l’aspirine
bandage   un pansement
cough syrup   un sirop pour la toux
cough drop   une pastille pour la toux
eyedrops   des gouttes pour les yeux
iodine l’iode
ointment   une pommade
penicillin la pénicilline
pill   une pilule
prescription   une ordonnance
tablet   un comprimé

Pharmacy Phrases

I need something for …   J’ai besoin de quelque chose pour …
     blood pressure        la tension arterielle
  cough     la toux
  itchy eyes     les yeux qui piquent
  itchy skin     la peau qui me démange
  itchiness     des démangeaisons
  muscle ache     la douleur musculaire
