The best way to encourage students to speak French in the classroom is to make sure that they know how to say all the things that they need to say. Once you teach them these useful words and phrases, your students should be able to avoid speaking English during any normal classroom interaction.

I don’t understand. Je ne comprends pas.
Repeat, please. Répétez, s’il vous plaît.

More slowly Plus lentement
How do you spell it? Comment est-ce que cela s’écrit ?
Can you write it? Pouvez-vous l’écrire ?
What’s the difference between ___ and ___? Quelle est la différence entre ___ et ___ ?
Is this sentence correct? Cette phrase est-elle correcte ?
