Bonjour tout le monde !

As you may know, today is the first round of presidential elections in France. I've lived here for 9 years - legally - and I'm concerned about what the new president's immigration policies might be. However, worrying is pointless - I have no say in what happens, and won't really know anything until tomorrow. So in the meantime, I'm looking for distractions.

I recently recovered my French magnetic poetry set (it had been in storage for 10 years) and am having fun playing around with it again.

I've also discovered a delightful language-learning box subscription called One Third Stories. Each month features a story that starts out in English, then gradually adds French words until by the end, the entire story is in French.

The stories are written for children aged 4 to 9, but the way the language is slowly introduced makes it useful for beginners of all ages.

Each monthly box includes complementary items to help kids learn French and have fun at the same time:

• Illustrated storybook

• Downloadable audiobook

• Activity book with games and exercises

• Flashcards

• Recipe

All in all, a delightful way to introduce kids to a new language.

OK, I think it's time to do some cooking. Brunch can be a good distraction, n'est-ce pas ?

Bonne continuation et bon dimanche !
